The Why Behind the Foundation
What is a Legacy...
A legacy can be defined as having the courage to leave behind a story that shines light into the hearts of others. Or as Maya Angelou once said, “You have no idea what your legacy will be because your legacy is every life you touch.”

Although Trenda’s journey ended too soon, her journey is her legacy, and her journey was indeed a bright light for many others and touched countless lives. The time we have here is precious and the way we spend it writes the story we leave behind. Trenda wrote a beautiful story in the time she was with us and this legacy foundation will help keep that story alive.

Author Simon Sinek has a quote that says: “There are only two ways to influence human behavior, you can manipulate it, or you can inspire it.” ….and inspire is exactly what Trenda did. She inspired generations of students by providing opportunities for them to become involved in making a difference. She helped young people find their voices which empowered them because she truly believed in them. She believed in each student’s potential and ability to change the world. She provided a safe space for their thoughts and ideas and that fostered confidence. Trenda inspired the next generation of dreamers, innovators and world changers. This foundation is also for them.

The Trenda Howard Legacy Foundation Scholarship is more than just financial assistance—it’s a continuation of Trenda’s unwavering belief in students and their limitless potential. This scholarship is awarded to individuals who embody the same spirit of leadership, kindness, and commitment to making a difference.
